Worshiping with Joy
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God
Scripture: Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. – Psalm 100:1-2
Worship is often treated as a chore to be checked off, but Psalm 100 calls us to come before His presence with a ‘joyful noise.’ Gladness is the required posture for service because we are serving the Creator of the universe who is also our Father. If our corporate worship feels like a dry, empty obligation, it is usually because we have lost sight of the ‘why’—we are in the presence of the King who has redeemed us. Joy is not a fleeting emotion; it is a steady-state response to the salvation we have found in Him.
As you enter the sanctuary today, consciously set aside the ‘obligation’ mindset. Ask the Lord to restore the joy of your salvation. Even if your circumstances are difficult, remember the truth of who He is. Let your singing today be a joyful noise that flows from a heart that understands the privilege of standing before Him. Worship is an opportunity, not a task—let your gladness be your witness to a world that desperately needs to see that God is worthy of our praise.
Prompt: Does your corporate worship look like an obligation, or is it characterized by genuine, overflowing joy?
Action Step: Worshiping God is a command, but it is meant to be executed with gladness and a joyful heart as we remember His goodness.
