Worshiping with Awe

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God

Scripture: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: – Hebrews 12:28

Worship is our response to the reality of an ‘unshakeable kingdom.’ In a world where everything is subject to decay and change, we have received a crown that cannot be moved. This reality should produce in us ‘reverence and godly fear’—a posture of worship that acknowledges the overwhelming holiness of the One we serve. True worship begins when we stop treating God like a peer and begin to treat Him like the King who sits upon a throne that spans eternity.

As you enter into corporate worship today, pause to consider the weight of the presence of God. You are standing before the Architect of the universe. Does your singing, your prayer, and your attitude reflect that reverence? Let go of casual familiarity and embrace the awe that is due to His name. By serving Him with godly fear, you position your heart to receive the grace that flows from His throne, and you prepare yourself to live for a Kingdom that will last forever.

Prompt: Does your worship reflect a deep, reverent awe for the unshakeable kingdom and majesty of God?

Action Step: True Christian worship balances the immense joy of our salvation with a profound, godly reverence for the Creator.
