Worshiping the King
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God
Scripture: Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. – 1 Timothy 1:17
We often treat God like a consultant who serves our interests, but worship is meant to remind us that He is the King eternal. When we sing and pray, we are bowing before a throne. Corporate worship is our opportunity to collectively acknowledge His immortality, His wisdom, and His absolute reign. If our worship feels too focused on our own feelings, we need to broaden our gaze toward His majesty. He is not just our friend; He is the King of kings, and He deserves our total, reverent honor.
As you enter the sanctuary today consciously set aside the ‘consumer’ mindset. You are not there to be served; you are there to honor the only wise God. Let your posture your singing and your attention reflect the dignity that is due to the King. When you worship with the awareness of His majesty your burdens become lighter, and your perspective is corrected. Give Him the glory today—it is the right and fitting response of a created heart to the eternal King.
Prompt: As you worship today, are you bowing before Jesus as the absolute King of your life?
Action Step: Sunday worship is the ultimate declaration that Jesus Christ rules over all creation and our individual lives.
