Worshiping the Creator

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God

Scripture: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. – Revelation 4:11

Worship often begins with a shift in perspective from our needs to His worthiness. Revelation 4:11 reminds us that God is the Creator of all things, and that everything exists for His pleasure, not our own. When we worship the Creator, we are forced to relinquish our demands and acknowledge that we exist for His glory. This is the foundation of acceptable worship—the humble realization that we are the created, and He is the King who is worthy of every ounce of our honor and praise.

As you join in worship today bring your eyes to the majesty of the One who spoke the galaxies into existence. Don’t come to get what you want; come to give Him what He is due. Let your heart swell with the realization that your very life is an expression of His creative desire. When you worship the Creator the pressures of your own life start to shrink in the shadow of His infinite glory. Be present be humble and let your praise be a reflection of the awe that only the Creator deserves.
