Unplugging from Anxiety

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect

Scripture: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. – 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Anxiety often stems from trying to carry the weight of the future while we are only equipped for the present. Casting our cares upon God is an active transfer; we are meant to take the burdens that are fraying our nerves and hand them over to Him. The reason we can do this is the simple, profound truth: ‘He careth for you.’ Your concerns are not just tasks for Him to solve; they are matters He is deeply invested in because He loves you.

Identify the sources of your anxiety today—whether it’s news, social media, or ruminating thoughts—and make a hard break from them. Create space for your soul to breathe. Verbally hand those specific worries to the Lord, one by one. You are not meant to manage these things alone. As you unplug from the noise, let the quiet assurance that the Creator of the universe is personally caring for your life fill the space where that anxiety used to be.

Prompt: As you observe the Sabbath today, can you intentionally disconnect from the sources of anxiety and cast your cares upon God?

Action Step: Rest and reflection require us to purposefully unburden our minds by trusting God's care.
