Union with Christ
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology
Scripture: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
Union with Christ is the foundational miracle of the Christian life—our old identity, with all its patterns of sin and self-protection, has been put to death on the cross, and a new life has been birthed by the indwelling Spirit. We no longer walk in our own limited power or rely on our own flawed wisdom; we walk by the faith of the Son of God. This means your daily decisions, your reactions to stress, and your patterns of thought are now infused with His presence.
As you navigate today, remind yourself that you are not acting alone. When you are tempted, remember you are crucified with Him; when you need strength, remember He is the one living through you. This reality shifts your life from an attempt at religious self-improvement to a supernatural walk of faith. Your identity is secure, and your resources for godliness are infinite because the living Christ is at the center of your soul.
Prompt: What does it mean for your daily life that your old self is dead and Christ now lives within you?
Action Step: Sound Theology teaches that our union with Christ is the source of our new identity, power, and standing before God.
Next Step: Memorize Galatians 2:20 and meditate on the reality of Christ living in you.
