The Return of Christ
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology
Scripture: Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; – Titus 2:13
The return of Christ is frequently called our ‘blessed hope.’ It is the ultimate resolution to the brokenness of this world and the fulfillment of every promise God has made. If the thought of His return brings anxiety, it is often because we are too deeply invested in the temporal things of this earth. But for those whose treasure is in heaven, His appearing is not a day of judgment to be feared, but a day of restoration to be anticipated. The return of the King is the final proof that truth wins, evil ends, and His kingdom is eternal.
Use today to realign your priorities with the reality of His return. If you find your heart heavy with the cares of this life remember that they are all temporary. Look forward to His appearing as the arrival of your true Home. When we live with an eye on the horizon the pressures of today lose their paralyzing grip on our souls. The King is coming—and that changes everything.
Prompt: Does the promise of Jesus' return fill you with hope or anxiety?
Action Step: Theology anchors us in the blessed hope that Christ will return to make all things new and establish His eternal kingdom.
