The Names of God

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology

Scripture: The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. – Proverbs 18:10

The names of God in Scripture are not mere titles; they are expressions of His specific nature and His relationship to us. Whether He is Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide), Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who Heals), or El Shaddai (God Almighty), each name acts as a ‘strong tower’—a place of fortification and refuge when our own strength is exhausted. Running into His name means bringing our specific needs to His specific attributes, trusting that He is exactly who we need Him to be in our current trial.

Spend time today calling upon the specific name of God that aligns with your current need. If you are anxious run into the tower of Jehovah Shalom the Lord of Peace. If you are feeling directionless look to El Roi the God Who Sees. By meditating on His name, you shift your focus from the magnitude of your problem to the magnitude of the One who holds you. His name is a safe harbor; dwell there today and find the security that only He can provide.
