The Law of God

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology

Scripture: The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. – Psalm 19:7 (KJV)

The Law is like a mirror; it is not meant to save us, but to show us exactly how far we have drifted from the glory of God. It reflects the perfection of His character—His holiness, His justice, and His truth. When we try to keep the Law in our own strength, we discover the impossibility of our situation, which forces us to abandon our self-righteousness and cry out for a Savior. The Law doesn’t condemn us to crush us; it condemns us to drive us into the arms of Jesus.

Don’t run from the Law’s conviction; embrace it as the path to grace. Every time you realize you cannot live up to God’s standard, thank Him for Jesus, who fulfilled the Law on your behalf. Understanding your failure is the prerequisite for understanding your redemption. Let the Law lead you to a deeper, more profound appreciation for the blood that covers your shortcomings.
