The Great Commission
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share
Scripture: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28:19-20
The Great Commission is not a suggestion for the gifted few, but a standing mandate for every disciple of Jesus. It is a call to go into our ‘nations’—our homes, our neighborhoods, and our workplaces—and represent the Kingdom of God through both word and deed. We are tasked not just with making converts, but with teaching others to observe all that He has commanded. This mission is sustained by the most precious promise in Scripture: ‘I am with you alway.’ The power behind our outreach is not our own charisma, but the constant, abiding presence of the living God.
As you look toward the coming year consider your personal role in this global mission. It may look like a bold conversation with a skeptical neighbor a dedicated time of intercession for the lost or active support for global missions. Whatever your sphere commit to being an active witness rather than a passive observer. When we align our personal goals with the Great Commission, we find a sense of purpose that transcends the trivial concerns of this world. Step out in faith, knowing that the Lord of the harvest is walking right beside you.
Prompt: What is your personal commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission in the coming year?
Action Step: The Share module culminates in the ultimate mandate: taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth and making disciples.
Next Step: Commit to praying daily for one unreached people group or specific missionary over the next year.
