The Final Judgment
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology
Scripture: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. – 2 Corinthians 5:10
The Judgment Seat of Christ (the Bema) is not a place where our salvation is in question—that was settled at the Cross—but a place where our stewardship of life is evaluated. Living with the perspective of eternity changes the way we spend our minutes, our money, and our influence. If we lived every day with the awareness that we will one day give an account to our Savior, the petty anxieties of this life would fade, and the eternal weight of our actions would come into focus. It is the ultimate motivation for a life of purpose and integrity.
Ask yourself: If today were the day I stood before Him what would I regret leaving undone? What would I wish I had prioritized differently? The reality of the judgment is not meant to inspire fear but to inspire clarity. Live today with a holy intentionality. When you seek to please Him now you are building a life that will withstand the scrutiny of eternity. Do your work serve your neighbor, and love your family as if every act is an offering you are preparing to place before Him.
Prompt: Does the reality of the judgment seat of Christ change how you intend to live today?
Action Step: Theology grounds us in the solemn but glorious truth that our lives will ultimately be evaluated by Christ.
Next Step: Take a few minutes to ask God to reveal any hidden motives in your heart.
