Telling the Next Generation
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share
Scripture: We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. – Psalm 78:4 (KJV)
Faith is passed down through the stories of God’s intervention. Psalm 78 is a sobering reminder that we are responsible for ensuring that the ‘wonderful works’ of the Lord are not forgotten by the generation to come. If we don’t tell the stories of how God provided, rescued, and transformed our lives, the younger generation will be left with nothing but an empty religion. Our testimony is the bridge that connects the faithfulness of God in our past to the faith of our children in their future.
What is one story of God’s faithfulness you can share today? Whether you are a parent, a grandparent, a teacher, or a mentor, don’t keep His works hidden. Speak of the ‘praises of the Lord’ in everyday conversations. By grounding the next generation in the reality of what God has done, you are giving them the confidence to trust Him with whatever they face tomorrow.
Prompt: Are you actively looking for opportunities to share stories of God’s faithfulness with the younger generation?
Action Step: Sharing our faith involves intentionally passing down the knowledge of God’s wonderful works to the generation to come.
Next Step: Share a brief story of how God answered a prayer with a younger person in your life.
