Teaching the Word
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Practice
Scripture: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. – Colossians 3:16 (KJV)
The Word of Christ is not meant to be hoarded; it is meant to dwell in us richly so that it might overflow into the lives of others. When we teach and admonish one another, we are participating in the communal process of discipleship, where the wisdom of the Scriptures becomes the common language of our relationships. Sharing what you have learned is one of the most effective ways to solidify truth in your own life and provide encouragement to those around you who may be struggling.
What is one specific truth or verse that has gripped your heart lately? Don’t let it stay stagnant. Reach out to a friend a family member or a colleague and share how that truth has been shaping you. By doing so you serve the body of Christ and keep the Word active and vibrant in your community. A shared truth becomes a shared victory building up the faith of all involved.
Prompt: How can you share a biblical truth you have learned recently with someone else today?
Action Step: The Practice of discipleship involves not just learning the Word, but also sharing its truth with others.
Next Step: Share a scripture that has encouraged you this week with a friend or family member.
