Street Evangelism

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share

Scripture: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. – Luke 14:23

The ‘highways and hedges’ represent the places where people are—the common, everyday spaces outside the walls of the church building. The command to ‘compel them to come in’ is a call to take the message of the Kingdom into the heart of the world. Street evangelism is often daunting because it forces us out of our curated environments and into the unpredictability of public interaction. Yet, it is exactly where the harvest is waiting. Our comfort zone is often the biggest barrier to the expansion of His house.

Ask the Lord to give you a heart for the people in your community who will never walk into a church building on their own. Is there a park a street corner or a marketplace where you can be a witness for Christ? You don’t need a sermon; you need a willingness to start a conversation offer a prayer or hand out a tract. Stepping out of your comfort zone is where your faith becomes truly active. Be the one who brings the light into the public square today.

Prompt: Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone to share the Gospel in public spaces?

Action Step: The Share module challenges us to take the message outside the church walls; street evangelism is a direct obedience to reaching the lost.

Next Step: Carry a Gospel tract with you today and look for an opportunity to hand it to a stranger.
