Stewardship of Finances
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Practice
Scripture: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven… – Matthew 6:19-20 (KJV)
Financial stewardship is a direct reflection of where our true treasure lies. When we cling to earthly possessions, we are investing in things that are inherently temporary and subject to decay. Conversely, viewing our resources as gifts from God allows us to shift our focus toward eternal investments, such as supporting His Kingdom, helping those in need, and using our wealth to further the gospel message.
Practicing stewardship requires a heart that is detached from greed and attached to God’s eternal purposes. Every transaction is an opportunity to declare that your trust is in the Provider, not the provision. As you manage your finances today, ask yourself if your spending and saving habits are building a legacy that will last beyond this life and count for eternity in the eyes of God.
Prompt: Are your financial decisions reflecting an eternal perspective or a temporary earthly one?
Action Step: True Practice means submitting every area of our lives including our wallets to the Lordship of Christ.
Next Step: Review your recent spending and ask God if it aligns with His priorities for your resources.
