Spiritual Reading
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Practice
Scripture: Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. – 1 Timothy 4:13 (KJV)
While the Bible is our ultimate authority and the bread of our spiritual life, God also uses the writings of faithful believers throughout history to challenge, clarify, and deepen our understanding of His truth. Paul encouraged Timothy to ‘give attendance to reading,’ acknowledging that healthy doctrine and spiritual exhortation are essential for a mature faith. Reading good Christian literature—the biographies of saints, the works of theologians, and the insights of modern mentors—is like sitting at the feet of those who have already walked the path we are on.
