Sharing with Strangers
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share
Scripture: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. – Hebrews 13:2 (KJV)
The command to ‘entertain strangers’ is a call to radical, open-hearted hospitality. We tend to build walls around our social circles, but the heart of the Gospel is outward-looking, constantly expanding to include the ‘other.’ A stranger is simply a friend or a soul waiting to be introduced to the love of Christ. When we are open to the Spirit’s prompts, a simple interaction in a coffee shop or on the street can become a life-changing encounter.
Ask the Lord today to make you hyper-aware of the people who cross your path—the cashier, the commuter, or the person in line next to you. You don’t have to preach a sermon; you just need to be kind, attentive, and available. A genuine smile or a word of encouragement can be the key that unlocks a heart. Be open to the ‘angels’—the messengers—that God might send across your path today, and be ready to be a messenger of His grace yourself.
Prompt: Are you open to the Holy Spirit prompting you to share God's love with someone you have never met?
Action Step: Sharing the Gospel involves looking for divine appointments to convey Christ's love through word and deed to everyone we encounter.
Next Step: Strike up a conversation with a stranger today and look for an opportunity to bless them.
