Sharing through Service

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share

Scripture: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Faith that is kept in the private sphere is a light hidden under a bushel. Jesus commands us to let our ‘good works’ be visible to men so that God is glorified. Practical service—helping a neighbor, working with integrity, meeting physical needs—acts as a bridge for the Gospel. When people see that our love is not just talk, but a tangible commitment to their well-being, the barriers of skepticism often lower, creating the perfect opportunity to share the reason for our hope.

Today, look for an opportunity to serve in a way that is visible to those around you. Let your excellence, your kindness, and your availability be a silent invitation to others to ask, ‘Why do you do what you do?’ When you serve with a spirit of joy and consistency, you aren’t just being a ‘good person’; you are being a witness. Your service is the key that opens the door for the message of salvation to reach hearts that might otherwise remain closed.

Prompt: How are your practical acts of service opening doors for you to share the Gospel with those around you?

Action Step: Sharing the Gospel is often most effective when our words are backed by tangible actions of love and service.

Next Step: Perform an anonymous act of kindness for a neighbor or coworker today.
