Sharing through Hospitality

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share

Scripture: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. – Hebrews 13:2 (KJV)

Hospitality is not about having a perfectly clean house or hosting an impressive dinner party; it is about creating a space where the love of Christ is tangible. In the ancient world, it was an essential survival practice; today, it is a radical act of counter-cultural love. By opening our doors, we declare that our lives are not our own and that our resources are meant to be shared. Hospitality is the ‘welcome mat’ of the Gospel.

Consider how you can use your home or your time to reach out to someone today. It could be as simple as hosting a neighbor, welcoming a new member of your church, or inviting someone over who is often overlooked. When we make ourselves available, we create room for God to move in ways we didn’t expect. Let your home be a place where strangers become friends and where the warmth of God’s love is the most prominent feature of your hospitality.

Prompt: Is your home a private sanctuary just for yourself, or an open door to show Christ’s love to others?

Action Step: Sharing the Gospel often begins by simply sharing our lives and our tables through the biblical practice of hospitality.

Next Step: Invite someone outside your immediate friend group over for a simple meal or coffee this week.
