Sanctification

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology

Scripture: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. – John 17:17 (KJV)

Sanctification is the ongoing process of being ‘set apart’ for God’s use. It is a work of the Holy Spirit, but it requires our active cooperation as we immerse ourselves in the Truth of God’s Word. Purity is not just the absence of sin; it is the presence of holiness. The more we know the character of God through Scripture, the more our own desires, attitudes, and habits begin to align with His perfect standard.

Is there an area of your heart or life that feels misaligned with the character of Christ? The Holy Spirit uses His Word like a mirror to show us where we need cleansing. Do not be discouraged by what you see; be encouraged that He is working on you. Ask Him to sanctify that specific area today trusting that His truth is not just an instruction manual but the very power that cleanses and transforms your life.

Prompt: In what area of your life is the Holy Spirit currently calling you to greater purity?

Action Step: Sound Theology teaches that sanctification is the ongoing process of being made holy.

Next Step: Pray specifically for the Holy Spirit to cleanse a persistent sinful habit.
