Salvation & Identity
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
When you surrender your life to Christ, you do not simply receive a fresh start; you undergo a profound spiritual resurrection that makes you a completely new creature. The Apostle Paul reminds us that our old identity—bound by past failures, sin, and worldly definitions—has completely passed away. In the context of understanding your SHAPE, this new identity is the absolute bedrock of your discipleship journey, establishing salvation as the first step in reconnecting with God and restoring what was broken by sin. You are fundamentally recreated by the Holy Spirit, shifting your reliance from your own flawed efforts to the finished work of Jesus.
Embracing this new nature requires daily intentional reflection so you can align your heart with His calling and embrace the unique attributes He has given you. The enemy will often try to remind you of your past, attempting to trap you in guilt. However, as a new creature, you have the authority to reject those lies and live out of the truth of your righteous standing before God. Walking in this renewed identity empowers you to leverage your unique SHAPE confidently, breaking old habits and stepping fully into the ministry and life God has crafted for you.
Prompt: How does knowing you are a “new creature” change the way you view yourself today?
Action Step: SHAPE starts with a clear understanding of salvation. It’s the foundation of everything else.
Next Step: Reflect on your personal testimony and thank God for your new identity.
