Sacrificial Love

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Equip

Scripture: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13 (KJV)

Sacrificial love is the defining mark of the Christian because it mirrors the ultimate act of Christ on the cross. We often settle for a comfortable, convenient form of love that only extends as far as our own ease, but the Gospel calls us to a love that costs us something—be it our time, our energy, or our personal comfort. Laying down one’s life is rarely a sudden tragedy; it is usually a daily choice to put the needs of others before our own desires.

Identify one person today who is difficult to love or is in a season of heavy need. God’s call is to step into their world and offer a sacrificial portion of your life, even when it feels like a burden. This is not just ‘helping’—it is active, obedient discipleship. As you pour out your life for others, you will find that you are actually being filled more deeply with the love and grace of Jesus.
