Sacrifice of Praise

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God

Scripture: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. – Hebrews 13:15 (KJV)

Praise is easiest when life is going well, but it becomes a ‘sacrifice’ when we offer it in the midst of hardship, fatigue, or disappointment. A sacrifice of praise is a deliberate act of the will, where we choose to prioritize God’s worthiness over our present feelings. This is not about being fake or dishonest with God; it is about honoring Him as the Truth, even when our emotions are telling a different story.

If you arrive at worship today feeling weary do not let that stop you from offering the fruit of your lips. Let your praise be an act of defiance against your circumstances. By choosing to thank Him when you are tired you demonstrate that your worship is based on His character not your comfort. This kind of praise reaches the heart of God for it shows Him that He is your greatest treasure, no matter the season you are in.

Prompt: How can you offer a 'sacrifice of praise' today, choosing to worship God even if you feel tired or discouraged?

Action Step: Worship is not dependent on our feelings; it is a continual offering of thanks for who God is.
