Rural Ministry

Scripture: And he went round about the villages, teaching. – Mark 6:6

Jesus often prioritized the smaller, less prominent villages, teaching and healing where others might have passed by. Rural ministry is the heartbeat of many regions, but it often lacks the resources and visibility of urban centers. Supporting the Gospel in these areas requires a special heart—one that values the ‘one’ as much as the ‘many.’ Whether through prayer, financial support for rural pastors, or supporting missions that reach remote areas, we have a mandate to ensure that every corner hears the Good News.

How can you be a partner in this? If you live in a rural area ask God how you can serve your local community with renewed vigor. If you live elsewhere pray for the isolated the small-town churches and the people who feel forgotten. Don’t let the ‘smallness’ of a place deceive you—every soul in every village is precious to the Father. Your prayers can open doors in places you may never visit, and your support can provide a lifeline to those laboring in the harvest fields of the countryside.

Prompt: How can you pray for or support the spread of the Gospel in small towns and rural communities?

Action Step: Jesus did not only minister in large cities; He valued the people in small, isolated communities.

Next Step: Pray today for pastors and missionaries serving faithfully in rural and less-populated areas.
