Rule of Life
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Practice
Scripture: Let all things be done decently and in order. – 1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV)
A ‘Rule of Life’ is simply a framework of intentional habits—a trellis upon which our spiritual lives can grow and thrive. Without disciplined rhythms such as morning prayer, consistent Bible study, and intentional Sabbath rest, our lives become cluttered and reactive to the noise of the world. We are called to live decently and in order, not for the sake of legalism, but to ensure that our hearts remain anchored in the presence of the Savior throughout our busy days.
Consider one habit you can establish this week to bring order to your soul. Perhaps it is a specific time set aside for silent meditation or a daily practice of gratitude before your feet hit the floor in the morning. Consistency is the key to transformation. By establishing these small, holy rhythms, you are training your heart to seek God first, ensuring that your life reflects the order and peace of the Kingdom rather than the chaos of the culture.
Prompt: What intentional rhythms or habits do you need to establish to keep your daily life anchored in Christ?
Action Step: The Practice of creating a ‘Rule of Life’ helps us intentionally structure our time and habits around spiritual growth.
Next Step: Write down three daily habits you want to commit to for your spiritual health.
