Reflecting on God’s Holiness
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect
Scripture: And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. – Isaiah 6:3 (KJV)
Holiness is the central attribute of God; it means He is utterly separate, pure, and perfect—the absolute standard of all that is good. To reflect on God’s holiness is to recognize our own desperate need for His grace. It is the ‘holy, holy, holy’ of the seraphim that causes us to fall on our faces in awe, not out of terror, but out of recognition of His transcendent beauty. When we lose our sense of His holiness, our worship becomes casual and our sin becomes trivial.
Use your time of rest today to marvel at His majesty. Step away from the noise and look at the world around you—the precision of nature, the complexity of life, the beauty of the cosmos—and recognize that it is all full of His glory. Let the reality of His absolute purity wash over you. When you truly see the holiness of God, you gain a perspective on your life that makes your current trials seem small and your salvation seem infinitely precious.
Prompt: As you pause from your weekly routines, can you quiet your mind enough to simply marvel at the absolute purity and majesty of God?
Action Step: Sabbath rest is not just about physical recovery; it is an invitation to elevate our gaze and reflect deeply on the transcendent holiness of our Creator.
