Reflecting on God’s Faithfulness
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect
Scripture: It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)
Lamentations was penned in the shadow of great sorrow, yet it rings with the triumphant truth that God’s compassions are new every morning. As you reach the end of this week, take a moment to look back and trace the footprints of His provision. His faithfulness is not dependent on your performance; it is a constant, steady stream of mercy that has sustained you through every challenge and every hidden trial you faced this week.
Write down or verbally thank God for three specific ways He was faithful to you. Maybe it was a moment where He granted you patience, a time He provided a resource you needed, or simply the grace He gave you to wake up and start again. Building this habit of reflection is essential for your spiritual health, as it turns your memory into a song of praise and grounds your confidence in His unchanging nature.
Prompt: Looking back over this past week, where have you clearly seen God’s faithfulness and provision in your life?
Action Step: Sabbath rest is an opportunity to pause and recount the specific ways God has been merciful and faithful to us.
