Purity in Media
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. – Psalm 101:3 (KJV)
Our eyes are the windows to our hearts, and in an age of constant media consumption, we must be vigilant about what we invite into our mental space. Every image, story, and ideology we consume leaves a mark, shaping our attitudes and eventually influencing our behavior. Purity in media is not about legalism; it is about protecting the sanctity of the mind that God has called us to renew.
When we allow worldly filth or divisive content to ‘cleave’ to us we find our spiritual sensitivity dulled and our joy eroded. Today prayerfully evaluate the media you consume. Ask the Lord to guard your eyes and grant you the discernment to turn away from what is damaging to your faith replacing those distractions with the truth that builds up your spirit and keeps your walk with Him unhindered.
Prompt: How does the media you consume affect your thoughts, attitudes, and overall spiritual health?
Action Step: SHAPE focuses on personal holiness, which includes guarding our minds and hearts from impure influences.
Next Step: Audit one source of media consumption that hinders your spiritual growth and eliminate it today.
