Prayer Walks
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Practice
Scripture: Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. – Joshua 1:3 (KJV)
A prayer walk is a powerful way to shift your perspective from being an inhabitant of a place to being an intercessor for it. By physically treading upon the ground where you live or work, you are visually anchoring your prayers to real people and real lives. God’s Kingdom advances through the prayers of His people, and as you walk, you are essentially claiming those spaces for His glory and asking Him to reveal His presence to those who don’t yet know Him.
Take a few minutes today to walk your neighborhood or office hallways with intent. Don’t just observe the surroundings; ask God to break your heart for the things that break His. Pray for peace in the homes you pass, for salvation for your colleagues, and for God to use you as a vessel of His grace in those specific locations. Your steps are an act of spiritual warfare and a commitment to represent the Light in the very places you inhabit.
Prompt: Have you ever intentionally walked through your neighborhood or workplace specifically to pray for the people there?
Action Step: The Practice of prayer walking combines physical movement with intercession, claiming territory for God's Kingdom.
Next Step: Take a 10-minute walk around your block today, praying silently for the homes you pass.
