Praising in the Quiet
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect
Scripture: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. – Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
Praise is not just a Sunday activity; it is the natural response of a heart that is ‘still’ enough to perceive the greatness of God. When we are constantly bombarded by the noise of life, we lose our sense of wonder. Silencing the noise today is a prerequisite for a true encounter with God’s majesty. You must deliberately carve out a space where the world’s demands are muted so that the greatness of the Creator can occupy your thoughts.
Today unplug from the frantic pace of the world. Find a quiet corner put away the distractions and focus entirely on God’s attributes—His holiness His love, His sovereignty, and His power. Do not bring a list of requests to Him; bring a heart of adoration. As you simply praise Him for who He is, you will find that your spirit is refreshed and your perspective is restored.
Prompt: As you rest today, how can you silence the noise of life to simply praise God for who He is?
Action Step: Sabbath rest involves quieting our hearts to reflect on the majesty and sovereignty of God.
