Scripture: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? – 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
Our physical bodies are not merely our own to do with as we please; they are the dedicated dwelling places of the Holy Spirit. Stewardship of this temple involves making intentional choices regarding our rest, nutrition, and activity, recognizing that how we care for ourselves directly impacts our ability to serve God and fulfill our calling. When we view our physical health through the lens of holiness, we stop seeing it as a vanity project and start seeing it as an act of worship.
If the Spirit of God lives within you your body is a sacred vessel. Neglecting your health can limit your capacity to walk out the purposes God has ordained for your life. As you reflect on your current habits ask the Lord to show you how you can better honor Him with your body ensuring that you are fit energized, and ready to be used as an instrument of His grace every day.
Prompt: How does your current physical health and lifestyle reflect your stewardship of the Holy Spirit's temple?
Action Step: SHAPE focuses on personal holiness, which includes caring for our physical bodies as vessels for God's use.
Next Step: Evaluate your current diet or exercise habits and identify one area to improve for God's glory.
