Peacefulness
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7 (KJV)
The peace of God is not a feeling dictated by our environment; it is a garrison that ‘keeps’ or guards our hearts and minds. It surpasses all human logic because it isn’t based on the absence of trouble, but on the presence of our Sovereign Lord. When we lack peace, it is often because we are trying to manage our lives through our own strength and understanding, rather than surrendering the outcomes to Him.
Identify the specific ‘front’ in your life where anxiety is currently breaching your walls. Is it a relationship a financial burden or an uncertain future? Take that specific area and present it to God in prayer releasing the need to control the outcome. As you surrender trust that His peace—which is far greater than your current situation—will stand guard over your heart, keeping you steady and secure in Christ Jesus.
Prompt: What area of your life is currently lacking the peace of God?
Action Step: SHAPE involves cultivating the fruit of the Spirit, including a deep, abiding peace.
Next Step: Identify one source of anxiety and intentionally surrender it to God in prayer.
