Patience
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. – James 1:4 (KJV)
Patience is more than just ‘waiting’; it is the process of endurance that matures our character and aligns our hearts with God’s timing. When we are forced to wait, our natural reaction is often frustration or anxiety, yet James tells us that patience has a ‘perfect work’ to accomplish in us—refining our faith and stripping away our self-reliance. God is often more interested in the state of our hearts during the wait than He is in the immediate resolution of the situation.
Ask yourself today what God might be cultivating in you during this season of waiting. Are you learning to trust Him more? Are you becoming more sensitive to His voice? Embrace the process knowing that the One who authored your purpose is also the one who manages your timeline. By yielding to His perfect timing you become ‘perfect and entire ‘ fully equipped for the calling He has placed upon your life.
Prompt: In what area of your life is God currently asking you to wait patiently?
Action Step: SHAPE involves allowing God to transform our character over time, producing the fruit of patience.
Next Step: Identify one situation causing you frustration and ask God for His perspective.
