Obedience in Service

Scripture: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. – Job 36:11 (KJV)

Service in the Kingdom of God is never intended to be a heavy weight of duty; it is meant to be the joyful outworking of a heart that loves its Master. Job 36 points to the life of blessing that follows a path of obedience and service. When we serve God, we aren’t paying a debt—we are participating in the grand adventure of His will. Any ‘burden’ we feel in service is usually a sign that we are relying on our own strength rather than His sustaining grace.

Today, check the attitude of your heart. If your service to God or others feels like a tiresome chore, stop and realign your perspective. Ask the Lord to remind you of the privilege it is to be a vessel for His love. When we view service as an opportunity, our ‘days in prosperity’ become defined not by worldly gain but by the deep, internal pleasure of being right where God has called us to be.

Prompt: Do you view serving God as a burdensome duty or as an opportunity for joyful obedience?

Action Step: The Equip module reminds us that true service springs from a heart of submission and obedience to God’s calling.

Next Step: Ask God today to reveal one specific act of service He is calling you to perform, and do it.
