Nature of God

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology

Scripture: For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. – Malachi 3:6 (KJV)

In a rapidly changing world where cultural norms and personal circumstances shift daily, the unchanging nature of God serves as our ultimate anchor. Proper Theology begins with understanding the essential beliefs of the Christian faith, primarily who God reveals Himself to be in Scripture. Malachi 3:6 offers a profound comfort: because God does not change, His mercy, justice, and love remain steadfast. His immutability ensures that the grace that saved you is just as potent and available today as it was the moment you first believed.

Understanding the nature of God correctly transforms our approach to Him and forms the essential foundation of all sound doctrine. When we recognize His eternal consistency and unchanging lovingkindness, we are no longer tossed about by fear or doubt. Instead, we are drawn to run toward Him in genuine repentance and worship, confident that our Heavenly Father is perfectly just and endlessly compassionate.

Prompt: When you think of God, do you primarily see Him as a Judge or as a compassionate Father?
