Multiplying Your Growth
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Equip
Scripture: And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. – 2 Timothy 2:2
Discipleship is the process of spiritual multiplication, where the truths we have received from God are entrusted to others who can then pass them on. Paul’s instruction to Timothy reveals that spiritual growth is not meant to be contained; it is designed to flow through the body of Christ. To ‘commit’ the faith to others is to invest your own life, experiences, and understanding of Scripture into someone who is hungry for God. This relational investment is the primary way the Gospel spreads and matures in the hearts of the next generation.
Growth is most effective when it is shared in the context of a relationship. Consider who is currently in your sphere of influence—a younger believer a colleague or a friend—who could benefit from your encouragement and guidance. You do not need to be a theological expert to disciple someone; you simply need to be a faithful witness to what you have already heard and experienced. By intentionally helping someone else grow this week you are participating in the very cycle of multiplication that has sustained the church for centuries.
Prompt: Who is someone in your life that you can help grow spiritually this week?
Action Step: Spiritual equipping is never meant to stop with you; it is designed to be passed on to others.
Next Step: Think of one spiritual truth you have learned recently and share it with another believer today.
