Ministry Passions

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Equip

Scripture: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; – Colossians 3:23

God does not call us all to the same tasks, but He does gift us with unique passions to serve the body of Christ. When we engage in ministry that aligns with our God-given design—our SHAPE—we often find that service becomes a source of life rather than a drain on our energy. Colossians 3:23 reminds us that the audience for our work is the Lord Himself. When we offer our passions to Him, He sanctifies them and uses them to build up His Church and reach the lost.

Reflect on the activities where you feel the most ‘alive’—where your skills meet a genuine need in the community. Are you pursuing those areas or are you waiting for someone else to tell you what to do? You don’t need a formal title to start serving; you need a willing heart and an eye for need. Ask the Lord to clarify how your unique blend of talents can be poured out for His glory today. Serving Him ‘heartily’ is the highest expression of your gratitude.

Prompt: What specific areas of service or ministry make you feel most alive and passionate?

Action Step: Equipping involves discovering our God-given passions and directing them toward kingdom work.

Next Step: Identify one task today that you can do with renewed passion specifically “as to the Lord.”
