Mind Renewal

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE

Scripture: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Our minds are battlegrounds where the culture of the world often competes with the truth of the Kingdom. To be ‘conformed’ is to allow the patterns of the world—its anxieties, values, and cynicism—to dictate our outlook. Transformation, however, is a deliberate, ongoing process of renewing the mind through the constant application of God’s Word, which washes away the dust of worldly influence and replaces it with His perspective.

Aligning your thoughts with Scripture requires intentionality; you must guard what enters your mental space. By choosing to meditate on what is good, acceptable, and perfect in God’s sight, you begin to discern His will more clearly. As you renew your mind today, allow the Holy Spirit to challenge the worldly assumptions you hold, replacing them with the life-giving truth that shapes your character and your purpose.

Prompt: What influences are currently shaping your thoughts, and how can you align them more with God's Word?

Action Step: The SHAPE process emphasizes that spiritual transformation begins with a renewed mind. By filtering our thoughts through Scripture, we align our identity and purpose with God's design.

Next Step: Identify one worldly influence you can limit today and replace it with Scripture reading.
