Marketplace Chaplains

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share

Scripture: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; – Colossians 3:23

Many Christians struggle to see their workplace as a holy place. We often view it as a necessary evil to pay the bills, rather than a primary mission field assigned by God. Colossians 3:23 tells us we work ‘as to the Lord,’ meaning our performance is an act of worship. When you work with excellence and integrity, you become a ‘marketplace chaplain’—a witness whose life and work ethic point directly to the Gospel. Your coworkers are watching how you handle stress, how you treat others, and whether your life matches your confession.

How can you be a better steward of your workplace mission field today? Is there someone struggling that you can support? Can you bring a more joyful serving heart to your tasks? Remember that you may be the only ‘Bible’ some of your colleagues ever read. Serve heartily speak with grace and let your work be a bright light for the kingdom. Your place of labor is not an obstacle to your faith; it is the platform for your witness.

Prompt: Do you view your workplace as a primary mission field where you are called to serve and share?

Action Step: The Share module equips us to be ambassadors for Christ in our secular jobs, operating as unofficial chaplains to our coworkers.

Next Step: Look for a practical way to serve or encourage a coworker today without expecting anything in return.
