Loving the Unlovable
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share
Scripture: For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. – Luke 6:32
Loving those who are easy to love is natural, but loving the unlovable is supernatural. It is the unmistakable mark of a disciple whose heart has been reshaped by the Gospel. When we love the difficult person, we are not affirming their bad behavior; we are reflecting the character of a God who loved us while we were still His enemies. If our love is limited to those who treat us well, we are not yet walking in the fullness of the grace we have received.
Identify the person who challenges you the most today. Instead of withdrawing ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to see them as He sees them—as someone made in His image who is also in need of His mercy. Love them through intentional acts of kindness patience or prayer. When you extend love to the unlovable you become a living bridge of the Gospel, showing the world a kind of love that simply cannot be explained by human standards alone.
Prompt: Who is someone in your life that you find extremely difficult to love?
Action Step: Sharing the love of Christ means extending grace to those who may not deserve it.
