Loving the Marginalized

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Share

Scripture: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. – Matthew 25:40 (KJV)

Jesus consistently identified Himself with the ‘least’—the forgotten, the hurting, and the societal outsiders. Loving the marginalized is not a social hobby; it is a direct act of worship. When we extend grace to those whom the world avoids, we are actively serving Christ Himself. This requires us to look past our own comfort and prestige to see the image of God in the person that others walk past.

Who is the person in your life—your workplace, your neighborhood, or your social group—that everyone else ignores? Today, be the one who stops. Offer a kind word, show genuine interest in their life, or help meet a practical need. You may be the only representative of Jesus they encounter this week. By loving them, you move past mere talk and into the heartbeat of the Gospel.

Prompt: Who is someone in your community that is often overlooked or avoided, and how can you show them the love of Christ today?

Action Step: Sharing the Gospel involves conveying it through deed and lifestyle, demonstrating Christ’s love to those on the margins.

Next Step: Intentionally start a conversation with someone you usually walk past or ignore today.
