Leaving a Spiritual Legacy
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Equip
Scripture: A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. – Proverbs 13:22
An inheritance is more than just material assets; it is the imprint of our character, our values, and our relationship with the Lord. Proverbs 13:22 highlights the wisdom of investing in those who come after us. A spiritual legacy is built in the quiet, day-to-day choices we make: the prayers we pray over our children, the integrity we demonstrate in our work, and the faithfulness we show in our trials. What we hold most dear will naturally be what we pass on to the next generation.
Think about your own life. If your spiritual life were a map what would it show the next generation about the path of following Jesus? Are you intentionally passing on a love for Scripture and a heart for service? If you don’t like the footprint you are currently leaving you have the grace of God to start changing it today. Your legacy is being written in every interaction and every prayer. Live in a way that makes it easy for those following you to find their way to Christ.
Prompt: What kind of spiritual footprint will you leave behind for the next generation?
Action Step: The Equip module challenges us to look beyond our own growth and consider the legacy we are leaving.
Next Step: Write a letter of spiritual encouragement to a younger family member or friend today.
