Hospitality of Heart
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: Use hospitality one to another without grudging. – 1 Peter 4:9
Hospitality is often reduced to the physical act of hosting guests in our homes, but the biblical mandate for hospitality is a matter of the heart. It is the posture of making room for others, welcoming them into our lives, and extending the grace we have received from God. When we do this ‘without grudging,’ we reflect the Father’s heart, which was opened to us through Christ. Opening your life to someone else—whether through a meal, a listening ear, or a generous invitation—is a powerful witness to the love that sustains the Church.
Who is someone in your circle who needs to feel truly welcomed? This week challenge yourself to extend a heart of hospitality that goes beyond convenience. It isn’t about having a perfect home or a polished life; it is about offering a sense of belonging to those who may feel lonely or overlooked. When you cultivate a hospitable heart you create a sanctuary where others can encounter the love of Jesus through your presence.
Prompt: How can you open your heart and your life to welcome someone this week?
Action Step: Hospitality is not just about entertaining; it is a heart posture of welcoming others as Christ welcomed us.
Next Step: Invite someone for a meal or coffee to build a deeper connection.
