Hopefulness
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. – Romans 15:13
Hope is not merely a positive attitude or wishful thinking; it is a supernatural fruit of the Holy Spirit living within us. When we look at our circumstances through the lens of our own limitations, despair is often the natural result. However, Romans 15:13 reveals that we are filled with ‘all joy and peace’ when we rely on the Holy Spirit, allowing His power to reshape our perspective. The Spirit reminds us that our hope is not anchored in our changing environment, but in the unchanging promise of God’s redemptive work.
Today, invite the Holy Spirit to be the filter through which you process your challenges. If you feel weighed down by circumstances that seem hopeless, stop trying to manufacture your own optimism. Instead, lean into the Spirit’s power, asking Him to reveal the truth of God’s sovereignty over your life. Hopefulness is the evidence that we are walking in step with the Spirit rather than relying on our own strength. Abound in that hope today—it is your inheritance as a child of God.
Prompt: How does relying on the Holy Spirit change your perspective from despair to hopefulness?
Action Step: True hopefulness is a product of our SHAPE being aligned with the Spirit’s power rather than our own strength.
Next Step: Take a moment to ask the Holy Spirit to renew your hope in a difficult situation today.
