Heart Transformation
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. – Ezekiel 36:26 (KJV)
God’s promise of a new heart is the foundation of our transformation. A ‘stony heart’ is characterized by hardness, pride, and resistance to the Holy Spirit’s gentle promptings, often serving as a defense mechanism against total surrender. When God replaces that stone with a ‘heart of flesh,’ He gives us the capacity to feel His love, respond to His Word, and align our desires with His holy will.
Inviting God to search your heart today requires radical honesty. As you identify areas of resistance, invite the Holy Spirit to soften those spaces with His grace. Transformation is a continuous work of the Spirit; by yielding your stubbornness to Him, you allow His nature to shape your character, making you more responsive to the calling He has placed upon your life.
Prompt: What areas of your heart still feel stony or resistant to God's will today?
Action Step: The SHAPE process begins internally; God is more interested in transforming your heart than modifying your outward behavior.
Next Step: Ask God to reveal one area of your life where your heart needs softening today.
