Hearing the Spirit

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Worship God

Scripture: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. – Revelation 2:7 (KJV)

Worship is not a performance we watch; it is a conversation we join. The Spirit of God is always speaking—through the preached Word, through the songs, and through the quiet stirrings of our conscience. The problem is rarely that He is silent; it is that we are too full of our own noise to hear Him. To ‘hear what the Spirit saith’ requires a humble heart that is ready to be moved, changed, and even corrected.

As you enter into worship today, pray a simple, daring prayer: ‘Lord, speak to me today, even if it’s a word of correction.’ Be ready to respond to His promptings. Is there a habit He is calling you to drop? A person He is telling you to reconcile with? A truth He wants you to deepen in? Don’t just show up to be comforted; show up to be led. Open the ears of your heart, and listen to what the Lord is saying to His church today.

Prompt: As you worship today, are you actively listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit to guide and correct you?

Action Step: Corporate worship is a dialogue; as we offer our praise, we must also open our ears to hear what the Spirit is speaking.
