Handling Money
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: SHAPE
Scripture: Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: – Proverbs 3:9 (KJV)
Money is one of the most honest reflections of our priorities. When we give our ‘firstfruits’ to the Lord, we are making a bold confession that He is the source of our provision and the owner of all we possess. Prioritizing God in our finances is an act of trust, a way of breaking the power of greed, and a practical way to honor His sovereignty over our lives. It is not about the amount we give, but about the posture of heart that refuses to treat God as an afterthought in our budget.
Today, look at your spending through the lens of stewardship. Does your financial management honor God, or does it primarily serve your own comfort? When you prioritize the Kingdom in your giving, you align your resources with eternal values. Remember that God doesn’t need your money; He wants your heart to be tethered to His kingdom work. Let your finances be a witness to your faith by placing the firstfruits in His hands.
Prompt: Are you actively honoring God with your finances by prioritizing Him in your giving and spending?
Action Step: The SHAPE module challenges us to evaluate how we handle money as a reflection of our spiritual priorities and trust in God’s provision.
Next Step: Review your budget to ensure your giving reflects your commitment to honor God.
