Scripture: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. – Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
The heart is the command center of our existence, the fountain from which all our attitudes, words, and actions flow. Because it is the source of ‘the issues of life,’ we are commanded to guard it with ‘all diligence.’ In our digital age, our hearts are under constant bombardment from a thousand different directions. If we are not careful about what we allow to enter our minds, we will inevitably find our hearts drifting toward cynicism, fear, or worldly desire.
Be a gatekeeper of your own soul today. Examine the media you consume, the conversations you indulge in, and the thoughts you permit to linger. Are they life-giving or soul-draining? If you want a heart that beats for God, you must curate what you feed it. Turn off the noise that distracts you from His truth and immerse your heart in the things that make Him the center of your focus.
Prompt: What inputs (media, conversations, thoughts) are you currently allowing to shape the condition of your heart?
Action Step: Equipping involves spiritual training to protect our minds and hearts from the enemy’s subtle deceptions and worldly influences.
Next Step: Audit your media consumption today and eliminate one source that causes anxiety or temptation.
