Grace vs. Law

Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Theology

Scripture: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. – Romans 6:14 (KJV)

Living under grace is the fundamental shift that transitions us from a performance-based relationship with God to a relationship based on secure, unwavering love. When we attempt to live by the law, every failure feels like a threat to our standing with the Father, leading to fear and discouragement. However, under grace, failure becomes an invitation to return to the source of our strength, allowing us to see that Christ’s victory is greater than our momentary slip.

Grace does not provide a license to sin; rather it provides the power to overcome it. By trusting in the sufficiency of Jesus your view of daily struggles changes from a desperate attempt to be ‘good enough’ into a grateful pursuit of holiness. You are no longer performing for acceptance but responding to the love you have already received.
