Enjoying Silence
Discipleship S.T.E.P.S.: Rest & Reflect
Scripture: Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. – Psalm 62:1 (KJV)
Silence is the language of the soul that is learning to trust. When we are surrounded by constant input, we lose our ability to discern the ‘still small voice’ of God. Waiting silently isn’t about emptying your mind of all thought, but about filling your mind with the presence of the One who saves you. It is the act of putting down our phones, silencing our internal monologue, and saying, ‘Lord, I am here, and I am listening.’
Can you commit to 20 minutes of silence today? Find a place where you won’t be interrupted and simply be with Him. If your mind races, recite the words of Psalm 62:1 to center your heart again. Don’t ask for anything; just practice the discipline of waiting. You will find that in the silence, your soul begins to settle, and your perspective begins to align with His eternal truth.
Prompt: In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, how can you practice the discipline of waiting silently before God today?
Action Step: Sabbath rest requires us to unplug from the noise of the world and quiet our souls to hear the gentle whisper of God.
